Want to get into DevOps but don't know where to start? From admin, developer, test automation, or even without IT at all - in this video, I analyze four real paths into DevOps and provide a 90-day plan for each. No fluff or "enlightenment courses," just what really helps you land an interview.

First, let's briefly discuss where you're heading:
• DevOps - delivery speed: CI/CD, IaC, automation, rollbacks.
• SRE - reliability: SLI/SLO, incidents, error budget, postmortems.
• Platform - internal platform: "golden paths," templates, self-service.
• Cloud - cloud infrastructure: networking, IAM, security, FinOps.
The focus of the release is entering DevOps/Platform, but the paths to SRE/Cloud are nearby.

Four DevOps entry paths:
Admin → DevOps
You already have Linux, networking, services, and monitoring. We're adding Git, CI/CD, Terraform/Ansible, Docker, and basic Kubernetes.
0-30-60-90 day plan: from Git and Docker to your own small CI/CD and Helm chart for the service.

Developer → DevOps
You know how to write code and tests, but haven't touched infrastructure. We're adding containerization, advanced Git, mature CI/CD, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
Plan: Docker and Git → production-level pipelines → deploy and monitor your service in "almost production."

QA / test automation → DevOps
You're already comfortable with CI and pipelines. We're adding IaC, containers, Kubernetes practice, preview environments, and GitOps.
Plan: Git and artifacts → Terraform and pull-request test environments → ephemeral environments + CI monitoring.

No IT → DevOps
It will be challenging, but doable. Let's start from the basics: Linux, networking, Git, Docker, a simple CI/CD, a minimal Terraform project, and one service in a Kubernetes/managed cluster.
Plan: Basic Linux + Git → simple pipeline and Terraform VM → "infra in a weekend" with a README and screenshots.

We'll cover what to put in GitHub and your portfolio in a separate section:
• "Infra skeleton": Terraform + CI + Docker + K8s.
• GitOps example: autodeploy per commit with rollback capability.
• Mini-observability: dashboard and two alerts.
• README as a normal document: architecture, what's where, how to run it.

Finally, we'll discuss common mistakes: jumping through hoops about Linux/networking, trying to learn everything at once (Terraform + Ansible + Helm + K8s in a week), projects without READMEs, copy-pasting pipelines without understanding them, and a complete disregard for security (secrets in Git, keys in images).

The main point: DevOps isn't a title on a resume, but a set of habits and practices. Choose one path, commit to it for 90 days, build 1-2 projects, highlight them in your resume and profile, and go to the interview.
