The redeployment of the vProxy can be done either via the CLI or via the NMUI. The CLI command nsrvproxy_mgmt is supported as of 19.2 but starting with 19.3 redeployment of vProxy is supported via the NetWorker GUI as well.
First we will need the version of vProxy that you want to upgrade to be downloaded from the support site. The OVA of the new vProxy version should be placed in the location Install Location/nsr/vproxy_ova/ovas/ on the NetWorker server for the OVA to be detected by the redeployment process.
The redeployment process performs the following operations:
•Unregister the original vProxy from the NetWorker Server.
•Power off the original vProxy in the vCenter.
•Disconnects all the network connections of the vProxy.
•Renames the vProxy to a temporary name of originalvProxyName.timestamp in the vCenter.
•Resets the MAC address of all the network adapters of the original vProxy. The original vProxy MAC address is assigned to the redeployed vProxy.
•Redeploy the vProxy with the same configuration as that of original vProxy using the latest OVA and power it on.
•On a successful redeployment, original vProxy is deleted, and the updated vProxy is registered on the NetWorker Server.
•If there is redeployment failure, the command performs a rollback, reverts to original vProxy configuration and registers the old vProxyto NetWorker server.
Limitations
The vProxy redeployment using nsrvproxy_mgmt redeploy command has a few limitations.
•Concurrent vProxy redeployment is not supported using CLI. However, you can sequentially redeploy multiple vProxies using a script.
•vProxy redeployment is not supported for vProxies that are directly deployed in the ESXi bypassing the vCenter. If the vProxy is deployed on the ESXi bypassing the vCenter, then you must manually redeploy the vProxy.
•The root and admin password length of the vProxy should be in between 8–20 characters only. Before redeployment, you must change the root and admin password and update the vProxy resource in NetWorker with the updated vProxy admin password.
•Deploying new vProxies using CLI is not supported
