1996. Owen, a lonely and awkward 12-year-old, befriends Maddy, an outgoing, lesbian high school student, who introduces him to a late-night TV series called "The Pink Opaque." In this show, two teenage girls fight monsters using a psychic link between them. Fascinated by this fantasy saga, whose protagonists lead lives far more exciting than his own, Owen devours the episodes with Maddy. Gradually, fiction and reality become intertwined, to the point that when Maddy disappears, Owen wonders if it was a real or supernatural event. Everything changes when the series is canceled...
