🐳 Day 43: Docker Port Mapping | 100 Days of DevOps
Welcome to Day 43 of the 100 Days of DevOps series! In this lab, you’ll deploy an Nginx container and expose it using port mapping — a core Docker concept for accessing containers from outside.
📌 Lab Objective:
Run an Nginx container and map it to a host port.
🛠️ Task Requirements:
Server: Application Server 3
Image: nginx
Container Name: blog
Port Mapping: Host 8086 → Container 80
Container must be running
💻 Step-by-Step Solution:
🔹 1. Pull the image
docker pull nginx:alpine
🔹 2. Run the container with port mapping
docker run -d \
--name blog \
-p 8086:80 \
nginx:alpine
🔹 3. Verify container is running
docker ps
🔹 4. Test (optional)
curl http://localhost:8086
👉 You should see Nginx default page
📚 What You’ll Learn:
Docker port mapping
Running containers in detached mode
Exposing container services
Basic container deployment
🌟 Why This Lab Matters:
Port mapping allows external users to access containerized applications, making it essential for real-world deployments.
