ADA Section 508 Standard 2.2.4 - Adding Captions
This is a quick "How To Add Captions" to your videos for Web Accessibility Compliance.
Here is the actual ADA Section 508 (WCAG 2.0) recommendation: 1.2.4 Captions (Live) [AA] 1194.22(b) and .24(c) Provides for captioning of live video and multimedia
Explanation: You must provide some sort of Closed Caption for all of your videos or any multimedia that you display on your WordPress website.
This is done very easily if the video you are displaying is on YouTube.
YouTube provides a very easy way to add Closed Captions to all of your videos.
-- How to create Subtitles and Closed Captions Automatically --
Step 1: Upload your video to YouTube and publish it.
Step 2: Inside YouTube go to - creator studio (you will find this option if you click your logo in the top right corner of your screen 2018*)
Step 3: Once inside your Creator Studio, On the left side menu click "Video Manager".
Step 4: Click the "Edit" button on the video that you want to create Closed Captions for.
Step 5: Once you open the video you are adding Closed Captions to, Click the "Subtitles/CC" button.
Step 6: Once you click the "Subtitles/CC" button you will be prompted to "Set Video Language". This is where you pick what language you want the audio to be transcribed too. Click "Select Language" button (I choose English) and choose whatever language you want.
Step 7: Then when you return to the "Subtitles/CC" screen click ADD New Subtitles - English and it should take you to an area that shows your Auto Generated Closed Captions.
Step 8: Click "Publish" and you are done.

You can create new subtitles or closed captions manually if you are not able to auto-generate them.
Choose the language for the subtitles or closed captions you want to create.
Use the search bar to find languages that don't automatically show in the list.
If you've already started working on a language, you can select it from My drafts.
In the draft for the language, you want to work on, play the video.
When you get to the part where you want to add something, type your content into the box.
If you need to, adjust when the caption starts and ends by dragging the borders around the text under the video.
Repeat this process for all the spoken words in the video. If you don't have time to finish the whole video, your changes will be saved in your drafts and you can pick up again later.
When you're done, select Publish.
To speed up your work, I have included some useful keyboard shortcuts:
Shift + left arrow: Seek back one second.
Shift + right arrow: Seek forward one second.
Shift + space: Pause or play the video.
Shift + enter: Add a new line.
Shift + down arrow: Edit next subtitle.
Shift + up arrow: Edit previous subtitle.
Enter: Add the subtitle.
