The most important software that runs on a computer system is the 'operating system'. It controls all of the hardware and software on the computer, as well as the memory and processes. Additionally, it lets you interact with the computer even if you don't understand its language.
Hardware resources comprising CPU, memory, and I/O devices are managed by the operating system. Efficient utilization of resources is often essential for distributed and backend systems. You can build systems that are more effective and efficient by having a better understanding of how the OS schedules, assigns, and maintains these resources.
There is a legitimate reason, why this course is required. This course will help you to understand how an operating system is written along with the various services an operating system (OS) offers, such as scheduling, concurrency, file systems, communication, processes and threads, and resource management. These are basic features that every operating system offers. As a software professional, it will be more difficult for you to comprehend and resolve issues if you don't know how to use these features and how they operate. In today's work environment, knowing operating systems is becoming more and more crucial. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment for computer support specialists will increase by 6% by 2031. Many of these jobs necessitate a solid foundation in operating systems.
