Wireshark Learning Series: HTTPS Decrypt
Have you ever wondered how to decrypt HTTPS traffic for more effective http analysis and troubleshooting using Wireshark? This guide will show you how!
This process involves capturing temporary session keys clientside and feeding them into Wireshark for decryption.
The steps are as follows:-
Search “environment” in the Windows search menu.
Click “edit environment variables”
This will ultimately shortcut you to the system settings
Click environment variables
Click new to add a variable named SSLKEYLOG
Specify any location for where the log file will be created ending in .log
Restart your computer
Add the key log file location to TLS under protocols within Wireshark preferences.
Capture traffic and confirm HTTPS now being decrypted.
