How To Clean & Degrease Your Engine / Undercarriage
Its something so simple yet so many people are scared to take this job on, and that job is cleaning and degreasing your engine and undercarriage! Look I get it, I was scared to do this when I first started wrenching, but cars and engines are built to get a little wet! It will still work just fine. Now ive cleaned 100+ engine bays professionally and have only ever had one large issue, and like I state in the video, it was from water getting into the spark plug port on cylinder 6 on a N55, causing the ignition coil to swell and fail. I had water in cylinder number 6 ignition coil after this engine cleaning as well, so if you want to pull the engine cover and double check the coils afterwards that wouldn't be a bad idea! If the belt starts squeaking while cleaning, don't panic, give the engine a little throttle or take it for a short drive and the belt noise should go away. Its usually just some water in the grooves of the serpentine belt. When lifting up the vehicle to get underneath, be sure to do it safely with a floor jack and jack stands. DONT GET HURT!
This job is so simple and soooo beneficial! Get the engine warm, get access, squirt her down with a pressure washer, avoid drowning sensitive components like sensors and the E-box, and you're good to go!
