The latest version of Oracle's module for Python introduces significant new functionality for application developers accessing Oracle Database. We cover many best practices for this module, including installation and upgrading. The highlight is a "thin" mode that doesn't need Oracle client libraries—resulting in easier configuration, a smaller installation footprint, and a more efficient runtime. You can now even use Python to connect to Oracle Database on-premises or in the cloud from platforms that don't have Oracle client libraries.
