Debug the Windows kernel from VS Code - over KDNET. Kernel debugging, reduced to "just another breakpoint."

dap-dbgeng brings kernel debugging into the VS Code UI: enable kernel debugging on the target (bcdedit) and reboot, point a kernel config at it from the host, press F5, and it connects over KDNET and breaks at DriverEntry. Then it's the debugging you already know - breakpoints, call stack, disassembly - powered by DbgEng, the engine behind WinDbg.

If you've only ever done this in WinDbg, this is the same power in a familiar editor.
