One of the primary goals of programming in general is to store values. In this video, I explain Java's syntax for declaring and assigning variables and for performing operations on those variables.

Note: I was unsure about this when I recorded, but the division operator always returns a double. If you try to store the result in an integer type, it will lose some precision if there is a remainder.
