Git offers native support to Windows/Mac/Linux as a time tested version control or source control product that makes managing your project's state super easy. There's a few commands you'll have to learn to get started, and it may take a minute to get your head wrapped around it, but a little practice makes all the difference.
Setting it up with Unity is even easier. You just need to make sure your Asset Serialization setting is set to Force Text and that your Version Control setting is set to Visible Meta Files. This makes it so you can clearly read the code in a script that has been changed, as opposed to seeing binary, which isn't really clear.
