Hello dear Kodlama Vakti followers, in the second lesson of our "Java Tutorials" series, we'll answer the question "What is Java?" and learn general information about Java. So, what is Java, one of today's popular languages?
A Brief History of Java?
In 1991, James Gosling, an engineer at Sun Microsystems, and 12 of his colleagues began developing a project called the Green Project.
James Gosling and his team, who work on Embedded Systems, initially used C and C++. However, they realized that these languages were not suitable and inadequate for the project they were developing, so they embarked on a new quest. This is how Oak, now known as Java, was born.
Why Should We Use Java? What are the Advantages of Java?
1- Simplicity
Java is easy to write, has a more readable structure, and is attractive. With future-proofing frameworks, Java is made easier to use, simplified, and easy to learn.
2- Security
Java programs do not harm other systems. Therefore, they are more secure. Java provides security checks against internet applications.
3- Portability
Java can run in different environments, and the Java runtime system (JVM) can be used for this purpose. (Windows, Linux, Mac)
4- Object-Oriented
Java, like C++, benefits from object-oriented features. It is an Object-Oriented Programming Language.
5- Architecturally Neutral
Java is not tied to specific machines or operating system architectures. Java is hardware-independent.
6- High-Performance
The bytecode is highly optimized. It runs very quickly when compiled by the JVM.
Why Should I Learn Java?
Businesses large and small are supported by applications written in this language. This means that if you have an idea for an innovative type of commercial software, Java is probably the best language for you.
The same applies if you have a great idea for a new Android app. Because Java is the language of choice among Android developers.
In short, from laptops to data centers, from game consoles to scientific supercomputers, from mobile phones to the Internet, Java is everywhere!
