Shell scripting in Linux refers to writing a program using a shell language to automate repetitive tasks. It involves writing a series of shell commands in a plain text file that can be executed as a script.
4. How to write Shell Script?
Shell script is just a simple text file with “.sh” extension, having executable permission. User can create and execute the script using following procedure
a) Open terminal.
b) vi hello.sh
c) sh hello.sh or ./hello.sh
