A variational refinement method that improves the accuracy of the initial optical flow estimates using variational techniques. This can be applied to the output flows of any other optical flow class. Because of this situation it requires initial flow estimates, computationally expensive on the other hand it significantly improves the accuracy of initial optical flow estimates.
