The Point Cache modifier lets you store modifier and sub-object animation to a disk file that records only changes in vertex positions, and then play back the animation using the information in the disk file instead of the modifier keyframes.
You can also import point cache data in autodesk maya. So you can easily transfer vertex animation between 3ds max and maya.
This tutorial focus on how to use point cache to export the cache data into disk and again load that data to multiple objects. Similarly, We will look at how we can import that data into autodesk maya.
