Use Regular Expressions to Validate PowerShell Function Parameters
One of the validation attributes for PowerShell function parameters, called ValidatePattern, enables you to specify a regular expression that parameter values will be tested against. Although you can achieve the same technique using the ValidateScript parameter attribute, the ValidatePattern attribute offers simplified syntax.
