In JavaScript, symbols are unique object property identifiers even if two symbols have the same name. It is useful for adding hidden properties to an object. If we want to have indistinguishable symbols, we can use global symbol registry. The final part of the video discusses the advantage of using symbols instead of strings as identifiers.
