In this video I introduce what is Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI score) with a workflow diagram and then follow up with a simple pythonic implementation of the score calculation function. Note that in well-made ANI tools, we will run a genome-fragmentation and alignment via BBH (best bidirectional hit) before the ANI score is calculated.
Later in the video I cover multiprocessing techniques and which ones are most suitable per our use case.
