In this video, you will learn how to simulate a single-stage cold plate forging process using isothermal analysis module of AFDEX 3D, the intelligent metal forming simulation software.

Since the geometries of the workpiece and the dies are symmetric, we will carry out a 3D simulation of a 30 degree sector of the component.

The material of the workpiece is a steel grade named AISI 1010 and its initial temperature is that of room temperature.

The temperature change will not be considered in this simulation. A blank holder force of 5 kilo Newton is applied in this process.

A glimpse of the post-processing options available in AFDEX will also be shown at the end of the video.
