Offset Shape - Create Graphics with Illustrator
The process involves creating an inner portion by selecting an outer path and using the offset path feature in the properties window. Initially, the offset is set to 0.1, but it is adjusted to 1\" to bring it inwards, although 0.9\" is deemed more suitable. After ensuring the preview is enabled, the inner shape is created, and its fill color is changed to yellow with an opacity of 54 to maintain visibility of the underlying image. Additionally, a halfway offset is needed, which involves selecting the inner path and using a negative offset of 0.9\". By calculating 0.9 divided by two, the value 0.45 is obtained for the halfway offset. This new inner path is created without a fill, leaving only the line visible. This line will be used to create text on a path, which will be placed around the shield. The process emphasizes the flexibility of adjusting offsets and the utility of using mathematical calculations to achieve precise design elements.
